For about 15,000 years dogs have been domesticated. Hunting, protection, and catering to the handicapped people in society, are only a few tasks dogs can perform for us. Dogs have a way of forming a bond with their owners. In a way, they can be empathic towards us, and by feeling what we are feeling, offer comfort that we may not find elsewhere.
Dogs have made such an impact on the human race that services such as: dog therapists, groomers, spas, cafes, and hotels. This list of services barely touches what else is available for them. So how else can dogs be therapeutic to us humans? Every dog has their own “personality” and with care and love, they will return the favor by being there for you. For instance, service dogs make it their duty to watch over their disabled owner, especially when no one else is around. They guide their owner and warn them about things such as running into something or indicating early signs of what could possibly be a medical emergency.
More commonly, a dog is a family’s companion. They touch the lives of children and their parents, in ways that they can’t and will never forget.
